Kalyan Banerjee accused the Centre of discriminating against the people of West Bengal. This led to strong protests and condemnation from the ruling benches. Speaker Om Birla also advised the Trinamool Congress lawmaker to exercise restraint in the House. The row was over the disbursal of funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to the state. The MoS also stated that the Central scheme was being \”misappropriated\”, broken into small segments and then re-branded as its own by the Mamata government. The House was adjourned for the day after the heated exchange of words. The session is expected to resume on Tuesday morning and will be followed by the next session of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday morning and the next day of the Vidarbha Vidharbha Vidhana Sabha on Thursday. The next session will be held on February 14 and 15 and the results will be announced on February 15. The last session was held on January 14 and the result will be released on February 16.
