Karnataka government has ordered a probe into the role of Director General of Police (DGP)-rank officer K Ramachandra Rao. Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta has been appointed by the government to investigate his role in the case. The case pertains to seizing of gold bars worth Rs 12.56 crore from Ranya Rao at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru. Following this, searches were conducted at the actress’ residence and officials said that gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and Indian currency amounting to £2.67 crore were also recovered. The investigating officer should commence the investigation immediately and submit the investigation report within one week, the order said. The order said film actress was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) while \”she was illegally transporting gold bars from Dubai to Bengaluru\”. \”It was also reported that Ranya misused the protocol services provided to her by her father,\” the order added.
