Police said Azmal’s mother had scolded him for not doing any work, after which he ingested the poison. Azmal was taken to hospital after the incident, when his condition worsened he was shifted to a higher center. A post-mortem has been conducted and his body has been handed over to his family. The incident occurred in Ikkad village, under Pathri police station jurisdiction in Haridwar a few days ago. The teenager was identified as Azmal, and he died on Saturday at the age of 16, police said. The cause of death has not yet been determined, according to the police. The case is being investigated by Pathri Police Station’s Crime Investigation Department, Pathri, and the District Health Officer’s Office, Haridwarshwar, police added. The death is being treated as an accident, and no further action will be taken, the police said, adding that the case is under investigation and the victim’s family has been informed.
