Public works department has closed the old Mandovi bridge on NH-66 connecting Panaji and Porvorim for 15 days to carry out repair works. During this period, vehicular traffic is being diverted on the newMandovi bridge. “General public are requested to take note of the same and plan their journey accordingly to avoid delays,” the traffic advisory stated. The traffic police have issued an advisory asking parents and students to leave early for the ongoing Class XII board examinations to avoid being late. The advisory has been issued by the traffic police of Goa. The old Mandovic bridge is closed for repairs. It is expected to reopen by the end of the month and will be fully functional by end of March. The new bridge is being built at a cost of around Rs 2,000 crore. It will be completed by the second half of this year, with a view to opening it by the start of the 2015/16 academic year. The bridge is located at the junction of the Panaji-Porvorim highway and the Porvorims-South Goa highway.
