Residents of Ghazipur protested and blocked the Akshardham-Ghaziabad road on Monday morning. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of suspects responsible for killing a young man who was fatally shot on Sunday night. The deceased, identified as Rohit from the Gujar community, was reportedly shot twice after confronting individuals allegedly involved in illicit activities in the locality. The police have filed charges under both the Arms Act and for homicide, while the motive for the killing remains unclear. In the initial investigation, 2 people have been detained and several teams are working on it, the police said in a press conference on Monday. The road will be blocked until we get justice,\” said one of the protesters, Chaudhary Karam Singh Rawat, adding, \”If they wanted, they could have arrested the person who killed our child by now. If we don’t get justice, there will be violence and bloodshed,\” said another protester, Virender Singh, adding that Muslims from Rohingya have settled here with money.
