Stalin has repeatedly expressed concerns that such a move threatens the state’s linguistic and cultural identity, which is deeply rooted in Tamil. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan sharply criticised the DMK’s stance, accusing the party of misleading the public and politicising the issue for narrow political gains. The heated exchange continued as DMK members disrupted proceedings by walking into the well of the House, raising slogans and demanding a fair hearing on the issue. The session witnessed an immediate uproar, especially over the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its proposed three-language formula. A major point of conflict was the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party’s demand for a discussion on what it terms the \”Hindi imposition\” through the three- language formula. The BJP has, however, defended the NEP, asserting that the policy aims to promote the use of all Indian languages and encourage multilingualism, not prioritise Hindi.
