The incident took place in tribal-dominated Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. The deceased was identified as Durgawati, 45, wife of Ramkhilawan, 48. The accused was arrested by police. There were frequent disputes between the husband and wife over his drinking habit. The man dragged his wife’s body inside the house and remained there for the entire night. He was spotted by the neighbours who informed the police, who arrested the accused on Mar 1. The woman was a resident of Gadhi Dadar village under Amarkantak police station of the district. She was a mother-of-one. The husband is an alcoholic, according to reports reaching here. He has been arrested by the police and is being held in custody, police said. The incident happened on February 28 and the man was arrested on March 1, reports said. He had allegedly thrashed his wife in the courtyard of his house. After she fell unconscious, the accused dragged her into the house. The neighbours found the woman dead the next morning and informed police.
