The markets ended on flat note in yet another volatile session on March 11 with Nifty around 22,500 amid buying seen in the metal, realty, telecom, oil & gas stocks. At close, the Sensex was down 12.85 points or 0.02 percent at 74,102.32, and the Nifty was up 37.60 points or0.17 percent at 22,497.90. More than 230 stocks touched 52-week low on the BSE, including IndusInd Bank, Shoppers Stop, Birlasoft, IDFC First Bank, Star Health, Esab India, P and G, Latent View, Hatsun Agro, Yes Bank, Sheela Foam, Trident, TTK Prestige, Vedant Fashions, Titan Company, Dalmia Bharat, among others. Trent, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank,. Shriram Finance, BPCL were among the top gainers, while losers were Indusind Bank, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid Corp, M&M. The Nifty started the day with a gap down, following weak global cues. However, during the day, the sentiment remained positive for the very short term, supported by strong momentum in the RSI indicator and the index closing above the 50 EMA on the hourly timeframe. The index might continue its strength with the potential to reach 22,660–22,700. Above 22,700, the N50 might move towards 23,000. On the lower end, support is placed at 22,.400 on a sustained basis.
