The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the killing of NTPC DGM Kumar Gaurav. Seven individuals have been detained, with no arrests yet. Empty cartridges of 7.15 bore were recovered from the crime scene at Fatah More under the Katkamdag police station. The team has also obtained crucial evidence of CCTV footage installed along the Hazaribag-Barkagaon route and connecting routes. Mayank Singh, a wanted member of the notorious Aman Sahu gang against which the needle of suspicion was pointing for the killing, denied any involvement. Family members and NTPC colleagues, however, said Gaurv had no previous disputes or threats. The strike has paralysed the coal mining operations and dispatch. Around 15 rakes were dispatched from the Banadag railway siding to various thermal power stations across the country. On the NTPC officers’ concern over their safety, the PSU’s director (fuel) Shivam Srivastava and director (HR) A K Jaldi met state chief secretary Alka Tiwari to discuss the security system and assured to enhance it.
