The PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme was introduced by the Centre in April 2013. The scheme envisages strengthening the Schools managed by the central government, local bodies and the state governments. It is aimed at improving the quality of education in India’s schools and reducing the number of students leaving the state for other parts of the country, among other things. It was launched by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to boost the country’s education sector.
