Union minister Nitin Gadkari said industry should not perennially demand a reduction in taxes. Gadkri said the government needs funds to implement welfare schemes for the poor. The minister said the logistics cost in India will come down to 9 per cent within two years. He also emphasised that India Inc. needs to reduce the cost of production without compromising the quality to create more jobs, he said in an event in New Delhi. The government’s vision is to take the tax from the rich people and give benefits to the poor, the minister said, adding that the government has its own limits. \”You are not only wealth creator but job creator…we need to take advantage of this golden era,\” he said, stressing the need to reduce imports and increase exports to make India a developed nation. The event was organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in association with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi, and the Indian Chambers of Commerce (ICC) of India.
