Bengaluru and adjoining districts across south-interior Karnataka are set to experience light to moderate widespread thundershowers and isolated rainfall between March 10 and 13. The early setting of pre-monsoon showers is attributed to a prevailing upper-air cyclonic circulation over the northeast parts of Indian Ocean and southeast regions of Bay of Bengal. IMD officials said the thunderstorms will help regulate the rising mercury levels for the next few days. There will also be considerable change in the weather pattern of Bengaluru over the next couple of weeks, IMD scientist CS Patil said. The daytime appears to be cool and night warmer than the average as the cloudy conditions trap the radiating heat from the ground, Patil added. The thunderstorms are expected to lash Bengaluru, Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, and Hassan.
