The much-awaited Sonipat to Delhi metro is all set for completion by 2028. The project, connecting the two cities, is developing rapidly and is in its final stages. The metro corridor will span a total length of 26.5 kilometers and include 21 stations. The total cost of the project has been estimated at INR 6,230 crore, with INR 5,685.22 crore allocated to the Delhi portion. The Haryana state government will bear 80% of the expenses, while the central government will contribute 20%. Around 50,000 passengers commute daily between Sonipats and Delhi, and this metro line will provide them with an efficient mode of transport. This metro corridor promises to transform the region’s infrastructure while promoting cleaner, greener, and more efficient urban mobility. The improved connectivity will not only ease traffic congestion but also foster new employment opportunities, boosting local businesses and industries. Moreover, the project is environmentally friendly, as it will reduce road traffic, thereby decreasing pollution and making transportation more sustainable.
