Two workers died in the rubble of the multi-storey dyeing unit building, which collapsed in Focal Point, Phase 8, on Saturday night. Four workers trapped inside have been rescued and a magisterial probe, led by SDM, East, has been ordered into the incident. Police have filed an FIR against four individuals. The state government announced that it would cover medical expenses of the injured workers and provide compensation to families of the deceased. The injured have been identified as Abhilash Yadav, Ram Kishan, Sintu Thakur, Avtar Singh Kaka, Pargat Singh, Manish Chauhan, Hakim Yadav and Neeraj Kapoor. Some of the workers managed to come out but seven were trapped inside. One of them was rescued in the evening, while three were rescued later in the night. Rescue teams kept searching for missing persons throughout the day. Nearby units were closed and vacated. On Sunday, a large crowd of workers from other factories gathered near the site. The area was cordoned off from three sides and the crowd was prevented from venturing near ground zero. Onlookers complained about not being allowed to see injured workers, who were their friends and acquaintances. Notably, many of the factories here are in dilapidated condition. This building also collapsed while repair work was going on and pillars were being replaced. There was a crane inside the building,. which was reduced to rubble except for the lift, which is still standing.
