“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he rejected for now a US offer that would give Washington access to critical minerals in the war-battered country. He said the presented draft \”was not in the interest of a sovereign Ukraine\”, as the the sides continue to negotiate. \”There should be a connection with security guarantees and investments\”, he said at the Munich Security Conference. \”The deal doesn’t protect our interests,\” he said, adding that the sides would continue to talk about the issue in the coming days. The deal was presented by US Secretary of State John Kerry to Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko at a meeting in Kiev last week. The meeting was attended by the heads of state from Russia, Ukraine, Poland and the European Union, as well as members of the European Parliament and the United Nations. It was the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries since the Ukraine crisis began in April 2014, and Poroshenko said it was an opportunity for both sides to improve their relations.”
